The Department of Defense (DOD) is seeking proposals for the ARCTIC FOX Sentinel topic as part of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. The objective is to develop and demonstrate a new class of Arctic-focused sensor package for surveillance and reconnaissance applications. The sensor package should be air-deployed and capable of detecting manned and unmanned platforms across difficult terrains such as swamps, desert, tundra, and snow or water bodies. The goal is to create a fully autonomous, air-deployable, self-aligning sensor package that can operate with minimal human supervision under extreme environmental conditions. The project will be conducted in two phases, with Phase I focusing on sensor configuration, power generation, deployment methodology, and operational features. Phase II will involve scaling the sensor platform, validating sensor integration, and performing land/sea trials. The technology developed in this project has potential applications in monitoring operations, remote surveillance, and reconnaissance, as well as commercial use in remote environmental and security monitoring. The proposal submission deadline is June 12, 2024. More information can be found on the grants.gov website.
