High-Throughput Embarked Data Transfer

The DON26BZ03-NV058 project seeks to develop a small, high-throughput data transfer device for embarked Navy platforms. This device, with a total stowed volume of one cubic foot, including the transceiver, and its associated software, must transmit at least four terabytes of data in 60 seconds over 5,000 nautical miles. The objective is to overcome current slow and bandwidth-constrained data transmission methods that delay crucial system improvements and warfighter training. The solution must be resilient to challenging atmospheric conditions and deployable on Navy surface combatants in under ten minutes. It should also integrate with existing Department of War Program of Record communications architectures and adhere to cybersecurity and information assurance standards. The project has three phases: concept development and feasibility demonstration in Phase I, prototype development and testing in Phase II (likely classified), and integration and qualification testing with dual-use applications in Phase III. The technology is restricted under ITAR/EAR, and the contractor must be U.S. owned and operated with secret level facility and personnel security clearances.
