Collaborative Aided Target Recognition Using Next-Generation Foundation Models for Multi-Domain Unmanned Systems
STTR Opportunity Analysis
The Department of Defense seeks proposals under the Small Business Technology Transfer program to develop and demonstrate a collaborative Aided Target Recognition capability for heterogeneous, multi-domain unmanned systems. Awardees will leverage next-generation pre-trained foundation models to achieve robust, predictive target disambiguation and multi-modal sensor fusion across air, land, and sea platforms. Phase I requires establishing technical feasibility and a conceptual design, while Phase II involves validating a fully functional software prototype on at least three physical platforms in an operationally relevant environment. This technology is subject to ITAR and EAR export controls and is projected to require a Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Level 2 Self-Assessment. Proposals under solicitation number 26.TZ for topic OSW26TZ04-NV001 may be submitted starting July 22, 2026, through the deadline on August 19, 2026.
