Software Defined Radio for Link Diversity
STTR Opportunity Analysis
The Department of Defense Missile Defense Agency is seeking proposals to design and develop an agile, multi-band Software Defined Radio system for interceptor platforms under the Small Business Technology Transfer program. Awardees must create a drop-in or near drop-in replacement radio featuring independent RF chains, rapid frequency hopping, adaptive frequency selection, and make-before-break handovers across the S, X, and Ka bands. Phase I requires validating the architecture in a laboratory environment to achieve Technology Readiness Level 4, while Phase II focuses on ruggedization, continuous frequency sensing, NIST-approved encryption, and transition to a classified environment. This ITAR-restricted project requires a projected CMMC Level 1 certification, and proposals for solicitation 26.TZ under topic number MDA26TZ04-NV004 must be submitted by August 19, 2026.
