The Department of Defense (DoD) is seeking proposals for a research topic titled "Operations & Logistics Susceptibility due to Publicly Available Information (PAI)" as part of the SBIR program. The objective of this research is to analyze the PAI military units leave behind when using commercial entities for support and assess if potential adversaries could exploit this information to target and disrupt US military capabilities. The research aims to develop a software solution that can analyze and visualize the PAI generated by military units and identify potential risks to military operations.
The Phase I objectives include conducting an analysis of existing datasets and software solutions, developing a software design document, creating a proof-of-concept prototype, and planning for user testing and market research. The Phase II will involve developing the prototype and conducting user testing with warfighters. The Phase III will focus on transitioning the technology to multiple warfighting organizations across the DoD.
The research topic is restricted under export control laws, and offerors must disclose any proposed use of foreign nationals. The solicitation is open until October 18, 2023, and more information can be found on the DoD SBIR website.
