xTech|Inversion Competition
SBIR Opportunity Analysis
The U.S. Army is seeking small business solutions through the xTech|Inversion open-topic competition to accelerate commercialization pathways for Army intellectual property and advance technologies with military and dual-use potential. The competition invites technologies that can be paired with Army-developed IP, with selected participants moving through a structured pathway that includes prize competitions and the opportunity to submit a Phase I Army SBIR proposal. Phase I, available only to competition winners, calls for a feasibility study and concept plan showing technical viability, commercial potential, and a path to Army modernization, followed by concept demonstration and later prototype development and transition planning. The competition offers up to $1,000,000 in cash prizes, and the current opportunity is scheduled to open on August 24, 2026 and close on September 11, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. ET.
