Optical Fence Line (OFL)

The Department of Defense, specifically the United States Air Force, is seeking proposals for the development of an Optical Fence Line (OFL) system under the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. The objective is to create a low-cost system capable of optically detecting, identifying, and tracking Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) up to 50 meters above ground along a fence line, ensuring security personnel can respond to any breaches effectively. This technology is crucial for enhancing military installation security and could also have applications in airfield security and commercial UAS management. Proposals for Phase II are due by February 5, 2025, with the opportunity opening on January 8, 2025.
