Scalable Agile Manufacturing of Launched Effects
SBIR Opportunity Analysis
The Department of the Army is seeking Small Business Innovation Research proposals to develop and demonstrate mass-manufacturing approaches for Launched Effects airframes. Awardees must design modular and adaptable manufacturing processes that can produce structurally efficient airframes at a target cost of $2,000 per unit and a maximum production rate of 10,000 vehicles per month. Phase I requires a representative design and a feasibility study detailing how the fabrication and assembly processes will achieve these cost and volume targets. Phase II will require firms to refine their designs and conduct a manufacturing demonstration that produces at least 80 articles in a single week while successfully incorporating a design change. Proposals for Phase I are limited to a cost of $300,000 with a one-to-six-month period of performance, and submissions must be received by June 24, 2026.
