Asymmetric Collaborative Counter Swarm
STTR Opportunity Analysis
The Department of the Army is seeking Phase I proposals under the STTR program to develop and integrate decentralized, distributed Artificial Intelligence software that allows a friendly, homogeneous Group 1 or Group 2 Unmanned Aerial System swarm to collaboratively defend against a numerically superior enemy swarm. Awardees must design software algorithms capable of executing within a compute payload of under two pounds and enabling active or passive inter-drone collaboration for 1-to-N targeting in both permissive and communications-denied environments. Phase I will focus on a feasibility study assessing various algorithmic approaches, sensor packages, and performance trade-offs, with physical hardware demonstrations of the decentralized swarm behavior required in Phase II. Proposals for this opportunity are due by August 19, 2026, for a Phase I cost limit of up to $300,000 and a period of performance ranging from one to six months.
