High Spectral/Spatial/Temporal Resolution MWIR Hyperspectral Imager

The DAF26BZ03-NV015 project seeks the development of a high-resolution MWIR hyperspectral imager covering the 2.0 to 5.0 micrometer wavelength range with a spectral resolution of 40 nm or better. This technology is critical for characterizing military target signatures, particularly missile plumes and hardbodies, to support the design and testing of missile warning and countermeasure systems. The imager requires at least 100 x 100 spatial pixels, a full-frame hyperspectral cube data rate of 60 cubes per second, and a detector pixel pitch no larger than 30 mm. The project is restricted under ITAR and EAR regulations, requiring disclosure of foreign national involvement. Phase I focuses on feasibility and conceptual design, while Phase II involves prototype development and demonstration. Phase III aims for limited production for defense signature measurement systems, with dual-use applications in military surveillance, night vision, target tracking, and commercial security, surveillance, and non-contact imaging thermometry.
