The Department of Defense, specifically the Army, is seeking proposals for the development of a Single Aperture Night plus Polarization Compass (SANPC) under the SBIR program. The objective is to create a celestial compass that integrates night (star) and polarization optical channels into a single aperture system, enhancing accuracy in target azimuth determination during twilight conditions when traditional methods are less effective. This innovative technology aims to reduce system weight, complexity, and cost while ensuring reliable navigation capabilities for soldiers in various operational environments. Interested parties can submit Direct to Phase II proposals with a funding amount of up to $2,000,000 for a 24-month performance period, with applications due by June 25, 2025.
