High Precision Specialized Waveguides for Extreme Temperatures
SBIR Opportunity Analysis
The Department of Defense, through the U.S. Navy, is seeking proposals under a Small Business Innovation Research opportunity to develop high-precision, specialized waveguides for hypersonic vehicles. Selected contractors must design and manufacture ruggedized, custom-shaped waveguides that target the X, Ku, K, and Ka frequency bands and can withstand surface temperatures exceeding 1,000 degrees Celsius. The Phase I effort focuses on demonstrating manufacturing feasibility and producing a target-band prototype, while Phase II involves extensive machining, testing, and developing custom connections under extreme environmental conditions. To be eligible, prospective contractors must be U.S. owned and operated with no foreign influence and have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret-level facility and Personnel Security Clearance. Proposals must be submitted during the solicitation period, which opens on July 22, 2026, and closes on August 19, 2026.
