SBIR Opportunity Analysis

The Department of Defense, through the Department of the Navy, is seeking proposals under the SBIR program for high-precision, specialized waveguides capable of low-loss, high-power radio frequency transmission within hypersonic vehicles. Contractors must design and develop ruggedized, custom-shaped waveguides that target the X, Ku, K, and Ka frequency bands and can withstand extreme hypersonic surface temperatures exceeding 1,000 degrees Celsius. Phase I requires demonstrating manufacturing feasibility and producing a baseline prototype, while Phase II involves extensive machining, testing bending limits, and fabricating custom connections under simulated extreme conditions. Because Phase II work is expected to be classified, prospective contractors must be U.S. owned and operated and be capable of securing and maintaining a Secret-level facility and Personnel Security Clearance. The solicitation opens on July 22, 2026, and proposals must be submitted by August 19, 2026.
