High Precision Specialized Waveguides for Extreme Temperatures
SBIR Opportunity Analysis
The Department of Defense, through the Department of the Navy, is seeking Small Business Innovation Research proposals for high-precision, specialized waveguides capable of low-loss, high-power radio frequency transmission within hypersonic vehicles. Contractors must design and manufacture ruggedized, custom-shaped waveguides targeting the X, Ku, K, and Ka frequency bands that can withstand extreme environmental conditions, including surface temperatures exceeding 1,000 degrees Celsius. Phase I requires demonstrating manufacturing feasibility and developing a prototype, while Phase II involves extensive machining, testing bending limits, and refining custom connections. To support advanced project phases, selected contractors must be U.S. owned and operated with no foreign influence and be capable of acquiring and maintaining at least a Secret-level facility and Personnel Security Clearance. Proposals for this opportunity must be submitted by August 19, 2026.
