Generalized Artificial Intelligence (AI) Explainability Tool for Object Detection

The Department of Defense (DoD) is seeking proposals for the development of a Generalized Artificial Intelligence (AI) Explainability Tool for Object Detection, aimed at enhancing the understanding of deep neural net computer vision (DNNCV) algorithms. The primary objective is to create a user-friendly tool that can analyze DNNCV algorithms and provide accessible explanations of the features that contribute to object detection and classification, catering to users without AI expertise. This initiative is crucial for both military applications, such as improving the effectiveness of object detection systems and developing countermeasures against adversary AI, as well as for commercial sectors that require enhanced AI literacy and consumer trust. Proposals for Phase I are invited with a funding limit of $250,000 for a performance period of six months, with submissions due by July 23, 2025.
