Very Low-Cost Kinetic Defeat for C-sUAS

The Department of the Air Force is seeking Direct-to-Phase-II Small Business Innovation Research proposals for very low-cost kinetic defeat mechanisms to neutralize Group 1 through 3 unmanned aerial system threats. Selected contractors must develop and deliver highly dispersible, survivable, and scalable interceptor or munition prototypes at Technology Readiness Level 7 or 8. Technical requirements demand a cost per engagement of under $6,000, autonomous fire-and-forget terminal guidance, an effective engagement range of 800 meters to 5 kilometers, and the ability to operate in contested, GPS-denied environments. Proposals must be submitted through the Department of Defense SBIR portal between the opening date of July 22, 2026, and the application deadline of August 19, 2026.
