Very Low-Cost Kinetic Defeat for C-sUAS

The Department of the Air Force is seeking Direct-to-Phase-II Small Business Innovation Research proposals for very low-cost kinetic defeat mechanisms to neutralize Group 1 through 3 unmanned aerial systems. Awardees must develop and deliver a Technology Readiness Level 7 or 8 prototype interceptor or munition designed for base defense that achieves a unit cost per engagement under $6,000. Key technical requirements include autonomous fire-and-forget terminal guidance, an effective engagement range of 800 meters to 5 kilometers, operation in contested and GPS-denied environments, and integration into command-and-control frameworks like Medusa. Proposals must demonstrate Phase I-type feasibility and be submitted between the open date of July 22, 2026, and the application deadline of August 19, 2026.
