Field Speciation of Ultrafine to Coarse Particulate
SBIR Opportunity Analysis
The Department of Defense’s Defense Health Agency is seeking an SBIR solution to field-speciate ultrafine to coarse particulate matter for military exposure monitoring and health protection. The effort calls for a field-portable device that can characterize particulate composition from 0.01 to 10 microns and replace lab-based analysis with in-situ measurement. The preferred capability must distinguish carbonaceous, metal, water vapor, and biological particulates, return results in real time or near real time, be ruggedized to MIL-STD-810H, support onboard and wireless data transmission, and target a unit cost below $50K. This is a pre-release opportunity under DHA26BZ03-NV006, with the solicitation opening on June 24, 2026 and closing on July 22, 2026.
