The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is seeking small businesses to participate in a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) project focused on advancing testing and analytics of indicative and conductive material seals for near real-time tamper detection. The objective is to enhance the integrity of supply chains by developing innovative materials and processes that improve the reliability of tamper-indicating seals, which are crucial for customs, law enforcement, and counterterrorism efforts. With a significant rise in cargo theft incidents reported in 2023, the DLA aims to address the challenges posed by current seals that often yield false positives and can be easily spoofed. Proposals for Phase I are due by May 21, 2025, with a budget of up to $100,000 for a 12-month duration, while Phase II can extend funding up to $1 million over 24 months. Interested parties can find more information and submit proposals through the DLA SBIR website.
