Spectral-Binning Focal Plane Array for Infrared Spectroscopy

The Department of Defense, specifically the United States Air Force, is seeking proposals for the development of a Spectral-Binning Focal Plane Array (FPA) for infrared spectroscopy, aimed at enhancing the spectral measurement capabilities within the Space Systems Test Facility at Arnold Air Force Base. The objective is to create a cryo-vacuum-compatible compact spectrometer that operates in a low temperature, high vacuum environment, capable of measuring spectral data across a range of 1.5 to 14 µm with high resolution and speed, thereby eliminating the need for conventional dispersive elements. This technology is critical for the testing and evaluation of aerospace systems, with potential applications extending to hyperspectral scene projectors and various DoD calibration and characterization efforts.
