Event-Based Sensing Hardware and Algorithms for Navigation
SBIR Opportunity Analysis
The Missile Defense Agency is seeking innovative proposals under the Small Business Innovation Research program to develop event-based sensing hardware and algorithms for navigation. Awardees must design a low size, weight, power, and cost navigation solution that utilizes advanced neural network models to process event-driven data for kill vehicles and satellites. The system must operate independently of GPS and GNSS inputs, function synergistically with existing inertial navigation systems, and be capable of operating in hostile low-Earth orbit or high-speed flight environments. Because this technology involves sensitive defense-related microelectronics and sensors, it is subject to ITAR and EAR restrictions and requires a projected CMMC Level 1 certification. Under solicitation number 26.BZ, the pre-release phase begins on July 1, 2026, with the application submission window opening on July 22, 2026, and closing on August 19, 2026.
