Adaptive Sensor Management
SBIR Opportunity Analysis
The U.S. Navy is seeking an SBIR solution for adaptive sensor management in the Ship Self-Defense System to improve how sensor resources are allocated against airborne threats. The work calls for an algorithm-based software capability that detects each sensor’s contribution to fire control quality tracks, identifies when sensor resources can be released, and recommends alternative tasking that would improve other tracks or situation awareness. The solution must be dynamic, explainable, compatible with existing SSDS Program of Record sensors, and initially centered on interactions among SPS-48, SPQ-9B, MK-9 Tracker/Illuminator, and SPY-6(V)3, with Phase II expanding to a larger sensor suite and a prototype delivered to the Navy. This pre-release topic is identified as DON26BZ03-NV065 under solicitation 26.BZ, with applications due July 22, 2026 at 4:00 PM UTC.
