NAVAIR & NAVSEA Open Topic for Counter Unmanned Air Systems (C-UAS)

The DON is seeking proposals for enhancing existing prototypes or concepts to improve Counter Unmanned Air Systems (C-UAS) operations. This initiative addresses the escalating threat of hostile UAS, which adversaries increasingly use for surveillance and kinetic attacks. The objective is to develop novel, scalable capabilities for detecting, tracking, identifying, and neutralizing single and multiple UAS threats in complex environments, providing a decisive overmatch for warfighters. Key technology areas include AI-powered target recognition, AI/ML-enhanced swarm detection and tracking, non-kinetic/low-kinetic defeat systems for small UAS, and AI/ML for countering adaptive programmable camouflage. The project is restricted under ITAR and EAR regulations. Phase I involves a four-month base period at $75,000 and an optional six-month period at $100,000, focusing on feasibility and anticipated improvements. Phase II aims to harden and marinize the technology for operational environments, leading to a demonstrable prototype. Phase III emphasizes dual-use applications for commercial and civil sectors, safeguarding critical infrastructure and public spaces.
