The Department of Defense (DOD) is seeking proposals for the topic of "Augmented Reality Enhanced Corrosion Control Systems" as part of their SBIR 24.1 BAA solicitation. The objective is to develop an integrated suite of Augmented Reality (AR) technology to enhance existing corrosion control detection and measurement systems used in aircraft maintenance. The technology aims to provide data as a visual overlay within the user's field of view, tag measurement data in Three Dimensional Space to specific aircraft, save data for future use, and export data and live video to additional users and digital twins. The goal is to increase efficiency, lower cost, and improve safety in corrosion control processes. The project will have a feasibility documentation phase, followed by the integration of a minimum of three corrosion control systems with a single AR platform in Phase II. In Phase III, the prototype will be operationalized, additional corrosion control systems will be integrated, and sustainment options will be offered. The project duration and funding specifics can be found in the solicitation notice on the Defense SBIR/STTR website.
