SBIR Opportunity Analysis

The Department of Defense, through the U.S. Space Force and Department of the Air Force, is seeking Small Business Innovation Research proposals for commercial-derived insights to support Novel Tactical Surveillance, Reconnaissance, and Tracking capabilities. The core objective is to identify and demonstrate the feasibility of novel, non-missile-warning, space- and ground-enabled sensing and analytic technologies that rapidly deliver unclassified, real-time tactical insights to warfighters. Scope areas include hardware, software, multi-sensor fusion, AI/ML-driven change detection, or automated data exploitation pipelines, while missile warning, kinetic interceptors, satellite buses, and launch vehicles are strictly out of scope. This ITAR-restricted effort requires a projected Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Level 2 (Self), featuring a three-month Phase I period of performance to evaluate technical feasibility followed by a Phase II effort to develop a functional prototype. Proposals must be submitted under solicitation number DAF26BX04-NV506 between the open date of July 22, 2026, and the close date of August 19, 2026.
