Modernization of Flash X-Ray Simulated Environments
SBIR Opportunity Analysis
The Department of Defense, through the United States Air Force, is seeking proposals for a Direct-to-Phase-II SBIR program to modernize flash x-ray simulated environments. Awardees will repurpose and redesign two non-functioning test platforms, converting the CXS machine into a cold x-ray source and modifying the PI 538 machine to reduce its Full-Width-Half-Max pulse width. The scope of work requires transporting both machines offsite, evaluating component materials to reduce maintenance downtime, conducting modeling and simulation, and advancing both technologies from Technology Readiness Level 6 to 8. Proposals are due by June 24, 2026, and applicants must demonstrate prior feasibility through a completed Phase I-type effort demonstrating expertise in x-ray machine design and modeling.
