The Department of Defense (DoD) is seeking proposals for the topic "Conformal Forward Looking Multi-Aperture Seeker for High Speed EO/IR Demonstrator" as part of the SBIR 23.3 BAA. The objective is to build a prototype EO/IR multi-aperture seeker that can actively mitigate thermal loading associated with Mach 5+ flight while viewing forward through a hot nose cone. The technology is focused on developing innovative solutions to target surface and airborne objects without blind spots in the field of view. The desired concept should be conformal to the nose cone, minimize aerodynamic heating, and have a middle wavelength infrared (MWIR) focal plane array (FPA) for capturing optical images. The project will have a Phase I, where a complete optical design and thermal management design must be developed, and a Phase II, where hardware will be implemented, integrated, and demonstrated. Potential applications include hypersonic vehicles and military surveillance. The solicitation is open until October 18, 2023, and more information can be found at the DoD SBIR website.
