Optimizing Satellite Imagery across Commercial Vendors
SBIR Opportunity Analysis
The Department of the Navy is seeking an SBIR software solution to optimize commercial satellite imagery acquisition for maritime domain awareness by coordinating collections across multiple vendors. The work calls for a hub-and-spoke scheduling tool that uses vendors’ native APIs to forecast collection opportunities and manage resolution, speed, cost, prioritization of time-sensitive tasks, redundancy reduction, data sharing, and imagery fusion. The prototype must support integration, automated tasking and re-tasking, scalability, load testing, imagery quality evaluation, security and interoperability testing, and it may enter classified Phase II work, requiring a U.S.-owned and operated contractor able to obtain and maintain secret facility and personnel clearances. The opportunity was released June 3, 2026, opens June 24, 2026, and applications are due July 22, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. UTC through the DOD SBIR/STTR topic portal.
