Integrated low noise laser for Barium ion qubits

The Department of Defense is seeking proposals for the development of an integrated low noise laser specifically designed for barium ion qubits, a critical component in advancing quantum computing and atomic clock technologies. The objective is to create a scalable laser system capable of producing 100 mW output power with less than -140 dB/Hz random intensity noise and a linewidth of less than 100 Hz, utilizing commercially accessible fabrication facilities. This innovative laser technology is expected to have significant applications not only in quantum computing and atomic clocks but also in medical and high-energy laser fields due to its lower impact on human tissue.
