AI Summary
The Department of Health and Human Services, National Institutes of Health (NIH) released a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) titled "Pilot Projects Enhancing Utility and Usage of Common Fund Data Sets (R03 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)" (RFA-RM-26-017). This NOFO, a reissue of RFA-RM-24-006, is a Common Fund initiative managed by the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR). Its purpose is to fund projects that demonstrate and enhance the utility of selected NIH Common Fund data sets, generating hypotheses and catalyzing discoveries, and to gather feedback on these resources. The initiative encourages small research (R03) applications that leverage data from at least two eligible Common Fund programs or substantially use data from Molecular Transducers of Physical Activity in Humans (MoTrPAC). Proposed projects should lead to enhanced use of these datasets by the wider scientific community, develop analytic tools, or integrate multiple Common Fund data resources. Clinical trials are not allowed. The NIH Common Fund plans to commit approximately $4,000,000 in FY 2026, anticipating 10-13 awards, with a maximum project period of one year and budgets limited to $200,000 in direct costs. Eligible applicants include various organizations and institutions, but foreign entities are generally not eligible. Applicants must comply with specific registration and application submission instructions, including a Data Management and Sharing Plan, and are expected to attend a CFDE Consortium meeting.
