The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is inviting applications for a cooperative agreement to establish a Data Analytics and Coordinating Center (DACC) as part of the Viral Infections in the Young Lung (VINYL) Clinical Consortium. The primary objective of this initiative is to conduct deep phenotyping and longitudinal follow-up of 1,500 infants and toddlers (ages 0-2) hospitalized with viral lower respiratory tract infections (LRTI), specifically focusing on conditions such as acute bronchiolitis and pneumonia, to better understand their impact on lung health. This project is critical for addressing significant knowledge gaps in the management and outcomes of viral infections in young children, with an anticipated funding amount of $800,000 for fiscal year 2026.
