The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is seeking proposals for the procurement of commercial-grade bismuth metal, specifically in slab or ingot form, for the National Defense Stockpile. The DLA intends to acquire a total of 5,167,272 pounds of bismuth metal with a purity of 99.99% over a five-year period, which is critical for mitigating supply chain risks associated with defense applications. This procurement is part of the FY2025 National Defense Authorization Act and aims to ensure a reliable supply of bismuth for various military uses, particularly in metallurgy and ammunition.
