The Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency are seeking applications for the Fiscal Year 2026 Intercity Bus Security Grant Program to protect critical surface transportation infrastructure and the traveling public from terrorist attacks. Eligible private, over-the-road intercity and charter bus operators must deliver projects focused on planning, operational activities, equipment, training, or exercises that align with national security priorities. Applicants must operate services making at least 50 annual trips to historically eligible Urban Area Security Initiative areas, possess an updated Vulnerability Assessment and Security Plan, and provide a 50 percent non-federal hard cash match. The three-year period of performance runs from September 1, 2026, through August 31, 2029. Applications must be submitted through the FEMA GO system by July 24, 2026, to compete for a share of the total $1.9 million program funding, with individual awards ranging from $20,000 to $1.9 million.
