Professional Formation of Engineers
Grant Opportunity Analysis
The U.S. National Science Foundation is funding the Professional Formation of Engineers initiative to integrate engineering research and education in ways that strengthen and expand the nation’s engineering workforce. The program supports projects that improve training and professional development for current and future engineers across classrooms, maker spaces, clubs, co-curricular settings, workplaces, internships, community-based experiences, and research labs. It also covers pathways into and through the profession, including apprenticeships, credentialing, licensure, mentoring, and transitions between academia and industry, with work informed by both engineering and social science expertise. Proposals are accepted anytime, there is no cost-sharing requirement, and NSF grants.gov support can be reached at grantsgovsupport@nsf.gov.
