Grant Opportunity Analysis

The Bureau of Land Management is seeking applications to establish partnerships that improve access to, and use of, heritage resources on public lands while promoting their educational, scientific, cultural, and recreational values. Eligible private institutions of higher education must propose projects that address specific program objectives, which include conducting archaeological and paleontological studies, monitoring and stabilizing at-risk resources, performing cultural data management, preserving museum collections, and supporting Tribal consultation. Applicants must submit a detailed project proposal outlining their technical approach, monitoring plan, milestone timetable, personnel qualifications, and a compliant budget narrative that justifies all cost categories. The agency expects to award approximately 40 cooperative agreements under this program, with individual awards ranging from a floor of $30,000 to a ceiling of $75,000 out of an estimated total funding pool of $830,000. Applications must be submitted electronically through Grants.gov by the deadline of August 14, 2026, and questions may be directed to Stephanie Lund at stephanie_lund@ios.doi.gov.
