OJJDP FY25 Family-Based Alternative Justice
Grant Opportunity Analysis
The Office of Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention is offering a discretionary federal grant to support family-based alternative justice programs for parents and primary caregivers who are involved in or at risk of becoming involved in the criminal justice system. The program funds both new implementation and enhancement of existing family-based alternative sentencing approaches that emphasize rehabilitation, family unification, family preservation, and alternatives to incarceration when appropriate. It is intended to strengthen caregivers’ long-term parenting capacity, help prevent children from entering foster care, and reduce future justice-system involvement for both caregivers and children; units of local government are eligible and no match is required. The competition offers up to $750,000 per award, with an estimated total program funding of $2.9 million for about four awards, and applications are due May 4, 2026; the listed contact is OJP.ResponseCenter@usdoj.gov.
