The U.S. Department of the Interior’s Interior Business Center, working with the Office of Native Hawaiian Relations, is offering the HOIHI Grant Program for Native Hawaiian Organizations to implement the Native American Tourism and Improving Visitor Experience Act and advance culturally grounded tourism in Hawaii. The program supports Native Hawaiian Organizations in stewarding and sharing traditional knowledge in ways that create jobs, raise living standards, and expand economic opportunity, with applications required to support one or more 2026 program priorities. Applications are evaluated on project background, work plan, monitoring and evaluation, qualifications, and budget, and submission materials include a project narrative and budget narrative with SAM.gov registration required. Applications are due June 8, 2026, and must be submitted electronically through Grants.gov; the program expects about 10 awards ranging from $75,000 to $200,000, with $1.2 million in total funding available.
Eligible Applicants
Applications are welcome from organizations that meet the following criteria:Eligible applicants are Native Hawaiian Organizations (NHOs). NHO means a nonprofit organization: (A) that serves the interests of Native Hawaiians; (B) in which Native Hawaiians serve in substantive and policymaking positions, and; (C) that are recognized for having expertise in Native Hawaiian culture and heritage, including tourism. Only one (1) application can be submitted under this announcement per organization and/or program director.
