Grant Opportunity Analysis
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is offering the Boating Infrastructure Grant (BIG) Tier 1 program (F26AS00008) to support the maintenance, renovation, and construction of boating facilities for transient recreational vessels that are 26 feet or longer. Eligible state and local government agencies can apply for cost-sharing awards of up to $300,000, with a requirement to provide at least 25% of the total project cost in non-federal matching funds, unless waived for certain territories. This program is crucial for enhancing public access to boating amenities, which may include boat slips, fuel stations, and restrooms, thereby promoting recreational boating activities. Applications must be submitted electronically by October 27, 2025, and interested parties can contact Paul Van Ryzin at paul_vanryzin@fws.gov for further information.
Eligible Applicants
Eligible applicants are the governor-designated agencies of the United States, the Commonwealths of Puerto Rico and the Northern Mariana Islands, and the Territories of Guam, American Samoa, and the U.S. Virgin Islands; and the mayor-designated agency of the District of Columbia. You may not apply directly if you are not one of these entities. If you are uncertain of your eligibility, please contact the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (see Regional Office of Conservation Investment Contacts above).
