Lewis Houghton Civics and Democracy Initiative - Continuing Awards
Grant Opportunity Analysis
The Library of Congress is seeking continuing awards under the Lewis Houghton Civics and Democracy Initiative to support current LHI partner organizations in expanding teaching materials, tools, and strategies developed under earlier awards. The work focuses on digitally enabled, assessable, project-based curricular programs that use the Library’s digitized primary sources, including music or creative-arts-focused materials, to teach history, civics, and democracy. Applicants must submit a budget that aligns with the project description and narrative, follows 2 CFR 200 allowability rules, and observes the indirect cost cap of 15% of Modified Total Direct Costs; organizations expending $1,000,000 or more in federal funds in a fiscal year must meet the single audit requirement. The opportunity is open only to eligible current LHI partner organizations, offers up to $100,000 per award with about six awards expected, and closes May 18, 2026 at 2:00 PM Eastern Time; questions may be directed to tps-grant@loc.gov.
