DoW Vision, Mentored Clinical Research Award
Grant Opportunity Analysis
The Department of the Army through USAMRAA is funding the FY26 Vision Research Program Mentored Clinical Research Award to support patient-oriented vision injury research led by military or civilian clinicians in training. The award supports standalone studies of high impact to vision injury care or the generation of clinical research data for larger future studies, with each project conducted by a clinician in training under the mentorship of an established clinician or Ph.D. clinical scientist. Proposals must align with at least one FY26 VRP Focus Area and cannot support preclinical research or clinical trials, and review emphasizes the research idea, strategy and feasibility, impact, personnel, and military health relevance. The program expects about two awards totaling $150,000, with each award capped at $75,000 for an 18-month period; the two-step submission process includes a Letter of Intent due August 25, 2026 and a full application due September 10, 2026, and IRB/Ethics approval or exemption is required by January 1, 2027 for funding consideration.
