The U.S. Mission to Equatorial Guinea, through Embassy Malabo’s Public Diplomacy Section, is funding the Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF) 2026 to support alumni-led projects that advance innovation, skills development, and community engagement in Equatorial Guinea. The program seeks proposals from exchange alumni teams for initiatives that build leadership, entrepreneurship, and applied STEM capacity for youth and early-career professionals, with an emphasis on practical training, mentorship, and workforce readiness. Applications must be submitted by teams with at least two exchange alumni and include a project summary, SMART objectives, a detailed design and methods section, a timeline, partner information, outreach plan, and a monitoring and evaluation plan; projects should be completed in 12 months or less. The funding range is $10,000 to $35,000, with about two awards expected, and the application deadline is May 4, 2026; inquiries may be sent to malabogrants@state.gov.
Eligible Applicants
• Applicants must be alumni of a U.S. government-funded or sponsored exchange program or a U.S. government-sponsored exchange program. • Project teams must include at least two (2) alumni • Alumni who are U.S. citizens may not submit proposals, but U.S. citizen alumni may participate as team members in a project • Alumni teams may be comprised of alumni from different exchange programs and different countries • Applications must be submitted by exchange alumni or alumni associations of U.S. government exchange alumni. No other organizations are eligible to apply. Exchange alumni can partner with not-for-profit or non-governmental organizations, think tanks, and academic institutions to implement project activities.
