The USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) is inviting applications for the Organic Agriculture Research and Extension Initiative (OREI) Workshop Projects for Fiscal Year 2026. This initiative aims to enhance the capabilities of producers and processors who have adopted organic standards through integrated research, education, and outreach activities, with a focus on addressing critical issues in U.S. organic agriculture. Approximately $450,000 is available for funding, with individual awards ranging from $5,000 to $75,000, and applications are due by May 14, 2026, at 5:00 P.M. Eastern Time. Eligible applicants include various entities such as state agricultural experiment stations, universities, research institutions, and individuals, with a requirement for a 100% matching contribution, which may be waived under certain conditions.
