The U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity is funding the FY26 Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Research Program Therapeutic Development Award to support ALS therapeutic development. The award covers product-driven research from preclinical validation of therapeutic leads through FDA IND-enabling studies, with a strong emphasis on parallel development of mechanism-specific, predictive, cohort-selective, target engagement, and pharmacodynamic biomarkers. Applicants must already have lead compounds and proof-of-concept efficacy data in at least one appropriate preclinical ALS model, and candidates that have already received an IND are not eligible for this mechanism. The program anticipates about six awards totaling $12 million, with a maximum of $2 million over three years, and requires a pre-application in eBRAP by June 24, 2026, followed by invited full applications due September 30, 2026 through eBRAP or Grants.gov.
