Grant Opportunity Analysis
The U.S. Mission to Turkey’s Syria Regional Platform, in cooperation with the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, is offering a grant competition for U.S. government exchange program alumni to develop and implement projects that support U.S. policy objectives and shared interests. The program funds alumni-led projects built around a detailed proposal package that includes a project summary, goals and SMART objectives, design and methods, a timeline, partner information, outreach planning, and a monitoring and evaluation plan. Eligible teams must include at least two exchange alumni, with projects implemented outside the United States and U.S. territories; U.S. citizen alumni may participate on a team but cannot serve as team leads, and U.S.-citizen-only teams are not eligible to apply. Awards range from $5,000 to $35,000, with an estimated total program funding of $70,000 for two awards, and proposals are due by May 20, 2026.
Eligible Applicants
• Applicants must be alumni of a U.S. government-funded or sponsored exchange program or a U.S. government-sponsored exchange program • Projects teams must include teams of at least two (2) alumni. • Alumni who are U.S. citizens are not eligible to submit proposals, but U.S. citizen alumni may participate as team members in a project. the team must have at least two non-U.S. citizen exchange program alumni. U.S. citizen alumni cannot be team leads on projects. • Alumni teams may be comprised of alumni from different exchange programs and different countries; all projects must be implemented outside the United States and U.S. territories.• Not-for-profit, non-governmental organizations, think tanks, and academic institutions are not eligible to apply on behalf of individual alumni and/or an alumni organization but can serve as partners for implementing project activities.
