INCLUDE Project: Transformative Research Awards for Down syndrome (R01 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

The National Institutes of Health, through HHS, is seeking applications for the INCLUDE Project: Transformative Research Awards for Down syndrome to support groundbreaking research that can improve health and quality of life for people with Down syndrome. The award is an R01, clinical trials are not allowed, and the scope includes all topics relevant to Down syndrome-related research and co-occurring conditions. Projects should be exceptionally innovative and unconventional, may be submitted without preliminary data, and will be judged on importance, innovation, rigor, feasibility, and the investigators’ expertise. NIH estimates $3,000,000 annually for FY2027-2029 to support up to four awards per year, with up to $500,000 in direct costs per year for as long as five years; applications are due June 15, 2028, and questions may be sent to DownSyndromeINCLUDE@mail.nih.gov.
