Media Projects
Grant Opportunity Analysis
The National Endowment for the Humanities Division of Lifelong Learning is accepting applications for the Media Projects grant program to support the development, production, and distribution of radio programs, podcasts, and documentary films that engage general audiences with humanities ideas. The program funds both Development and Production awards, and projects are expected to be grounded in humanities scholarship, involve humanities scholars, and demonstrate broad public appeal. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, accredited institutions of higher education, state and local governments, and federally recognized Native American Tribal governments, with restrictions that exclude promotion of specific political, religious, or ideological viewpoints, DEI initiatives, fictional films, and projects primarily for formal educational settings. Applications are due June 25, 2026, with about $6 million available for an estimated 15 awards, development awards up to $75,000 and production awards up to $700,000 for documentary films or $350,000 for radio and podcasts, and submissions must be made through Grants.gov Workspace.
