Grant Opportunity Analysis
The U.S. Embassy Kolonia, under the U.S. Mission to Micronesia, is offering the Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF) 2026 to support exchange program alumni projects that advance U.S. policy objectives, celebrate America250, and strengthen ties between alumni and the U.S. government. The program funds projects that convene alumni, expand alumni networks, build leadership capacity, and address priority areas such as professional development, entrepreneurship, education, civic engagement, and cultural or sports engagement. Proposals must support Freedom 250 and show how the project helps make the United States safer, stronger, and more prosperous, with priority given to tangible benefits for U.S. interests and the U.S.-FSM partnership. The grant has a total funding pool of $35,000, anticipates 1 to 2 awards ranging from $5,000 to $35,000, and has a 12-month period of performance. Applications are due May 17, 2026, and inquiries may be sent to KoloniaPAS@state.gov.
Eligible Applicants
(1) Alumni who participated in a U.S. government-sponsored exchange program. Examples of programs are International Visitor Leadership Program, Study of U.S. Institutes, Fulbright Scholar Program, and Humphrey Fellowship Program. (2) Alumni Associations from countries with current U.S. representation. (3) Proposed projects must involve at least two U.S. Government-sponsored exchange program alumni and need to specify a team lead. (4) Applications from Alumni Associations will need to specify a team lead. (5) U.S. citizen alumni may be included on alumni teams; however, the team must have at least two non-U.S. citizen exchange program alumni. U.S. citizen alumni cannot be team leads on project (6) Not-for-profit, non-governmental organizations, think tanks, and academic institutions are eligible to apply provided the organizing team consists of U.S. government-sponsored exchange program alumni meeting the criteria described above.
