Grant Opportunity Analysis

The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, through the Office of Sports Diplomacy, is seeking a cooperative agreement for the FY 2026 Sports Visitor Program to advance foreign policy priorities through international sports-based exchange. The program will bring together American and international youth ages 15 to 23 and their adult coaches or chaperones for thematic exchanges that combine sports training with workshops, community service, cultural activities, orientations, and follow-on alumni engagement. The award is expected to cover both U.S.-based and international-based exchanges, with a single recipient responsible for overall administration and oversight of any sub-awards, and the attached performance monitoring materials indicate use of ECA’s MODE framework with survey and administrative data reporting. One award of $4,000,000 is anticipated, proposals are due May 26, 2026, and eligible applicants are U.S. nonprofit organizations or educational institutions with at least four years of international exchange experience and SAM.gov registration with a UEI.
