Promoting Integration of Primary and Behavioral Health Care: States
Grant Opportunity Analysis
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is offering a discretionary federal grant to states and appropriate state agencies to promote integration of primary and behavioral health care. The program supports full collaboration between physical and behavioral health clinical practices and aims to improve integrated care models that advance overall wellness and physical health status. It also supports bidirectional integrated care services, including evidence-based or evidence-informed screening, assessment, diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and recovery services for mental and substance use disorders and co-occurring physical health conditions and chronic diseases. Eligibility is statutorily limited to a state or appropriate state agency, including the state mental health authority, the single state agency for substance abuse services, the State Medicaid agency, or the state health department.
