Grant Opportunity Analysis

The National Institutes of Health’s National Human Genome Research Institute plans a U01 cooperative agreement for ancient DNA for Modern Genomics (aDMG) research projects to build an ethical resource of ancient and historical human DNA data that can advance studies of contemporary human traits, biology, disease, and health-related traits. The program will support projects that leverage existing and newly generated ancient DNA data from the consortium and integrate it with modern human and other species data to improve biological and epidemiological understanding. Collaborative work that brings together expertise in DNA sequencing methods, computational genomics and data science, human evolution, and ancient human populations is specifically encouraged, and clinical trials are not allowed. The opportunity is expected to be posted on or about August 3, 2027, with a projected close date of February 1, 2028, and applicants may contact NHGRI Research Funding by email for more information.
