The Dept. of the Army’s USAMRAA, through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs, is funding the FY26 Military Burn Research Program Patient-Centered Research Award to support clinical research that improves how burn care is delivered in austere military operational settings. The award seeks studies or clinical trials that generate clinically useful evidence on interventions, practices, guidelines, tools, and policies for burn patients, with a focus on closing the gap between research and practice. It supports prospective or retrospective research involving human subjects or human subject data, excludes preclinical and animal research, and includes a new mentorship option at a higher funding level for an experienced researcher paired with one to two junior researchers. The application process is two-step, with a pre-application through eBRAP followed by an invited full application, and the program expects about $3.4 million to fund approximately two awards. The pre-application deadline is July 7, 2026, and the full application deadline is October 21, 2026.
