Limited Competition: Small Grant Program for Mentored Research Career Development Award Recipients (R03) (Clinical Trials Not Allowed)

The National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases, through the National Institutes of Health, is offering a limited competition Small Grant Program (R03) to support mentored research career development award recipients as they move toward independent investigator status. The award supports pilot and feasibility studies, secondary analysis of existing data, small self-contained projects, and development of research methods or technology, and clinical trials are not allowed. Eligible applicants include current NIAMS K01, K08, K23, and K25 awardees in their second to fourth year, as well as recipients of significant career development awards focused on NIAMS mission areas, with peer review and funding based on merit. The program allows up to $50,000 in direct costs per year for up to two years, with applications accepted through July 16, 2029, and questions directed to NIAMS_NOFOs@mail.nih.gov.
