Research on the Ethical, Legal and Social Implications (ELSI) of Genomics
Grant Opportunity Analysis
The National Institutes of Health’s National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) plans to issue a Notice of Funding Opportunity for research on the ethical, legal, and social implications of genomics. The program will support applications that examine how genomics affects individuals, institutions, and society, and it encourages work across a wide range of academic disciplines to produce replicable, comprehensive findings. The effort is intended to help anticipate and address societal issues arising from advances in genomic knowledge, data, and technology; no cost sharing is required. This is a forecast rather than a current solicitation, with an estimated synopsis post date of November 2, 2026 and an estimated synopsis close date of February 16, 2027, and inquiries may be directed to NHGRI_DGSoc@nih.gov.
